Welcome to the Project Linus information page. Boutiques and More would like to welcome Project Linus as a charity we are supporting. Our goal is to provide new, handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18. Sew Good Sewing Center, 206 Chelsea Road, Monticello, MN 55362, is an official drop off center. We will value all donated blankets meeting the description above, for this great project.
Sew Good Sewing Center:
Sew Good Sewing Center opened in April 2012. Carolyn Hendel, the owner, previously employed at A-1 Sew Craft in Champlin, MN. Carolyn has collected blankets for Project Linus for 11 years. Sew Good Sewing Center is an official drop off site for donations. Donations are accepted during business hours through the year.
What about sizes?
Project Linus donates blankets to children, infants through teens. Many sizes are appropriate depending on chapter need. For example, blankets could be as small as 36" X 36". The majority of Project Linus blankets are about 40" x 60", or what is called 'crib size'. Blankets could be as large as twin size for teens. Local chapters may have certain preferences depending on the facilities to which they donate.
What type of blankets does Project Linus accept?
Project Linus welcomes blankets of all styles, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. Blankets must be new, handmade and washable. In addition, they must come from a smoke-free environment. You don’t have to be an expert to create a blanket that is beautiful to a child!
